What am I Supposed to Call this Game?? (or Intro to Stern’s James Bond 007: Confusion Around the Name.)
This page is dedicated to the Stern 2022 game designed by G. Gomez. Somewhat confusingly, the backglasses of each the Pro, Premium and Limited Edition of this game had dedicated art to the movies “Dr. No”, “You Only Live Twice”, and “Thunderball”. This can lead people to call these games by the movie title and not “James Bond” or “007”. Stern officially calls all 3 of these games “James Bond 007”. To add to the confusion, the 60th Anniversary version is also called “James Bond 007”, which is a completely different game (Released in 2023 and is a single-level game designed by Keith Elwin).
There is also another separate pinball machine from 1980 with the same name, “James Bond 007“, by Gottlieb. Sega also released a 007 game in 1996 but it luckily it was based on and named after the “GoldenEye” movie specifically, so is less likely to be confused with the 2022 game–but is still often called “James Bond” and/or “007” (but will often have a reference to “Sega”).
This Tactics Page is focused on the Gomez 2022 versions (Pro, Premium & LE) only.

All: The spelling of “color”: No, it isn’t spelled wrong, “colour” is the British spelling and I wanted to keep to the theme, since, you know, James Bond is British.
Jetpack Multiball:
-Subsequent Multiballs qualifying may need multiple Left Eject (the Swamp) hits to light each Left Ramp lock.
-Locking in the first jackpot value seems to be fairly forgiving (unlike the lock shots (especially on the Pro)), and if you hit the dragon tank, it seems to lock in the value (and start the MB) the same as if you hit the center shot cleanly.
Jetpack MB Full Rules
Intro Left Side:
-Blofeld Stacking Clarification: Blofeld, one of the Villians is locked out of playing Bird One Multiball. You can still stack Jetpack Multiball.
–High Stakes: Lit from inlane/outlane BOND letters–every 2nd (or odd set) completion lights the left (swamp) eject to collect a mystery award.
-“HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE” removed (only section removed from stock cards): the average intro player is not likely to ever see this mode on 007 and I removed it to clean up the card and add extra info for “Bond, James Bond”, High Stakes, and Missiles; and to fill out some of the mode info that was very lacking in the original cards. And if you did make it to the wizard mode, how dare to call yourself an “intro” player. 😉 (Also, the information would’ve been essentially to say it was a wizard mode. …not very useful for a player trying to just learn the game.)

Advanced Left Side:
Q Branch: the info after the Q Branch exceptions ( Q’s Ring & Radioactive Recon.) is the features needed to light those modes.
High Stakes: Completing “Death by Derby” Spectre Weapon gives you chances to win better mystery awards such as a Bond Woman, Hold Bond Women, Smart Missiles, Upgraded Outlane Ball Save (allows you to toggle balls save with flippers), and a Hold Bonus X.

Into Right Side: Action Button Features & Smart Missile:
LCD Info: “Active Mode Progress Bar”: More than one mode can be active at the same time. But (annoyingly) only one is shown and I don’t think there is a way to switch between the two. For instance if you have a stack of a mode and a multiball, often the multiball progress is shown (which, annoyingly again, is the less important progress to know).
Q Branch & Bond Women Card:
Feature hits:
Hits to any features (pops, ejects, etc.) during multiballs are all paused for Q Branch progress. What I couldn’t fit though is that progress is also paused during any wizard mode including mini-wizard modes, even if they are single ball. But this does mean that during Villain, Henchemen, Spectre, and Q modes (but ONLY when you are in single-ball), you CAN make progress towards Q Modes (and other Q Modes in the case that you are in a Q Mode). Bond Women still progress through multiballs the same way as they do through single ball modes.
Q-Branch SB vs *MB icons:
SB= Single ball only modes that can stack with the 2 main multiballs
*MB= The * is the number of mode hits before a dedicated (to the mode) multiball starts.
Q-Branch 2-Ball starting shot values:
The number of hit before starting the 2-ball multiballs is the value from the default settings. On some games this seems higher, I suspect that “Competition Mode” increases how many you need.
Spectre Modes:
Spectre modes can be timed out, even if holding the flipper, it seems.
Q: Why didn’t I call it “Bond Girls” (like the media did when the movies came out)?
A: Because the game sticks with Bond Women, likely because some women find it insulting. Lets just all just all try get along people…
System-J ‘Then Hit’ arrow.
On the System-J cards, this arrow, when between wording is used to denote “then” or “, then hit”.
Eg. Hit lit shot (, then hit) right ramp.
